OK, so you may look at the below ingredients and wonder where this fits in with prosciutto wrapped shrimp stuffed with roasted garlic and leeks, but trust me... This might be the best tasting appetizer on the website. It came from my Aunt Mag who was an amazing matriarch in our family. According to my Mom, everything she knows about entertaining and hosting she learned from Aunt Mag. These are another great app to freeze and take to a party or break out when guests arrive.
Ingredients
1 Loaf Pepperidge Farm party rye
1 pkg Bacon
1 Jar Cheese Whiz
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Remove bacon from package and lay strips on a backing rack over a baking sheet. Partially cook the bacon in the oven (approx 10 - 15 min). Remove bacon and cut into approx 1" strips. Next, spread Cheese Whiz over slices of party rye (note: you must use Pepperidge Farm. Don't ask me why, but I tried another generic brand and it just wasn't the same). Then top each slice with 2 strips of bacon. Place on a sheet or plate in the freezer for 1 hr (till set). After set you can move them to a bag to store.
To bake, same as the Crab Bites place Maggie Murphies on a baking sheet, top rack under broiler (do not thaw). Broil until golden brown.
